New polymer composites improve silty clay soil microstructure: an evaluation using <scp>NMR</scp>

Abstract Soil erosion is a major environmental threat. The purpose of this study was to develop new polymer soil improvers that could mitigate the risk by modifying microstructure and improving ecological self‐repair ability. In particular, investigated composites (ADNB) based on different combination ratios nano‐aqueous adhesive (NAB) superabsorbent resin (SARn). effects types ADNB water characteristics pore size distribution were systematically using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). addition, an empirical model experimental data developed describe soil‐water characteristic curves. results showed in comparison natural soil, application significantly increase peak signal strength relaxation time curve. can effectively reduce number pores with diameters 1.11–8.3 μm, 0.5–1.8 but had little effect 0–0.5 μm. Through NMR imaging analysis, moisture absorption storage quantified. ratio content have obvious curve under low suction high conditions, indicating water‐holding capacity has been improved.
